Sarasota City Parks: For Nature Lovers and Adventure seekers

In Sarasota, Florida there are over 300 different parks that provide recreation for everyone in the city. Some of these city parks have been around for hundreds of years and have a rich history. On the other hand, some of the newer parks were created as a result of citizens wanting to create a greener city. Sarasota has plenty of parks for everyone. Here is a list of just some of the many places that Sarasota has for you to visit and enjoy.

The Eastwood Park on International Drive is the oldest park in Sarasota and it is also one of the most popular. It was built in 1924 and is designed to mimic the look of a New England town. This park offers baseball diamonds, tennis courts, a water tower, picnic tables, a concession stand and a pavilion. Eastwood is well known for its annual Spring Festival and for being one of the cities first public recreational parks.

The Dr. Phillips Park is in downtown Sarasota near the Dr. Phillips Shopping Center. It was built in 1928 and is designed to mimic a country club. There are also interactive exhibits where children can learn science or math from experienced adults.

This park is not only fun for the children but also a great learning experience for the adults who want to know more about these animals. If you are a nature lover then the Gorilla Forest should be on your “to do” list.
